Jeremy joined SLC at the end of April 2014 and has been a qualified solicitor since 1990. He has undertaken civil litigation work throughout his career, specialising in property litigation since 2002. Jeremy was a Partner at a large general practice in Chester where he worked for over 20 years before moving to SLC in order to undertake specialist property management work which is what attracted him to SLC.

Jeremy is head of the Litigation Disputes Team and manages a team of 7 lawyers and support staff dealing with defended cases and more complex disputes. Jeremy undertakes more complex fee earning work and supervises and manages the work carried out by the members of his team, as well as dealing with new enquiries and other administrative and management duties. Jeremy’s role is important in ensuring that high standards are maintained, cases are dealt with as efficiently and professionally as possible, and that clients’ interests are best protected.

Faye Craggs is a Solicitor in the Litigation Disputes team. Faye deals with defended service charge and ground rent claims both in the County Court and the First Tier Tribunal. Faye also deals with breach of covenant cases both pre and post litigation stage. This is an important role within the firm because our Clients expect litigated matters to be dealt with by an expert in the field.
Faye advises Clients on a daily basis regarding their cases and the best way to progress them with as little risk to them as possible. Faye has been doing this for SLC Solicitors since January 2015 having cross-qualified as a Solicitor in 2013.

Faye studied a Law Degree at the University of Birmingham before moving on to the College of Law to gain her Bar Vocational Course. Following her studies Faye worked as an Advocate in the County Courts for four years. She represented Clients in all manner of Court hearings representing Clients for many Solicitors, including SLC.

Faye enjoys the excitement that comes from litigation and the thrill that comes from getting a good outcome for her Clients. Keeping abreast of the changing laws in this area is a challenge Faye embraces.

Raj joined SLC in 2008 as a Paralegal in the Litigation department. Thereafter Raj successfully completed her training with the firm, qualifying as a Solicitor in May 2013.

Raj has worked in the legal industry for over 6 years, specialising in debt recovery, litigation and property matters including lease extensions and leasehold enfranchisement.

Raj enjoys daily contact with clients and is always happy to help whether by email, telephone or in person.

Raj studied at the University of Wolverhampton where she graduated with a 2:1 LLB (Hons) Law degree, and subsequently went on to achieve a Distinction in the Legal Practice Course.

Raj enjoys the varied caseload she has been able to experience at SLC, having worked in both the Litigation and Property departments within the firm. Raj enjoys the satisfaction of helping clients, whether it be recovering debts or assisting in a property transaction.

Kim has always worked within litigation and since 2004 has specialised in Consumer Credit, Asset Finance and Debt Recovery defended litigation. Upon joining SLC in August 2014, Kim has added to her litigation experience in the realm of property litigation. Kim currently advises on residential and commercial property litigation, breach of covenants and recovery of arrears from deceased Estates.

Kim’s general responsibilities includes: advising as to lease provisions, FTT Applications and other Applications received as part of the Court process; reviewing Part-Admissions, Defences and Counterclaims received in responses to Claims issued and advising as to the merits and next steps through to Mediation and final Hearing; advising as to pre-litigation disputes and endeavouring to settle the same at minimal cost to the Client; and investigating deceased Estates, including: establishing contact with Executors and Solicitors for the Estate; corresponding with the Probate Registry and General Registry Office; corresponding with the Treasury Solicitor (where applicable); and, as a final resort, issuing Claims against the Estate.

Amy Fairweather is a Chartered Legal Executive within the Litigation Disputes Team specialising in service charge recovery and breach of covenant cases.

Amy has also worked within the Property Department of the firm where she acquired further experience in regard to conveyancing and lease extensions.

Amy joined the firm in June 2008 as a Legal Assistant having previously worked for a Telford based firm for two years.

Amy enjoys the variety of her working role and aims to provide an efficient and friendly service to all her clients.

Amy obtained her honours degree in Law and Sociology (LLB) at Cardiff University obtaining a 2:1. Subsequently Amy studied a Postgraduate Diploma to acquire Graduate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. Amy obtained Chartered Membership in 2011, having obtained sufficient post qualification experience.

Whilst working at SLC Solicitors in 2009, Katie graduated from the University of Wolverhampton with a First Class LLB (Hons) Law degree and subsequently went on to complete the Legal Practice Course in 2010.

After working at SLC as a Paralegal and Litigation Assistant from 2009 to 2012, Katie moved to London where she worked as a Paralegal dealing with Litigation and Construction matters.  Most recently, Katie managed a team of paralegals handling pre and post-completion conveyancing transactions.

Having re-joined SLC as a Trainee Solicitor in September 2016, Katie is looking forward to working in a busy team acting on a variety of contentious and non-contentious matters.

Katie enjoys travelling, keeping fit, Muay Thai boxing and the luxury of no longer having to commute on the London Underground every day.

Gareth graduated from Aberystwyth University with BA Honours in Law with Management and Business in June 2015 before joining SLC Solicitors in November.

Gareth has moved from Disputer and Assistant Account Manager roles to now assisting our senior Solicitor Charlotte Collins with commercial recovery matters. He finds the work varied and interesting placing great emphasis on meeting the client’s needs to deliver the desired outcome.

Gareth continually strives to improve whilst furthering his knowledge and experience in this field.

Outside of SLC, Gareth enjoys managing and running his local adult football team

Deirdre Mavin is the Litigation Disputes Secretary for the Litigation Disputes Team whose role is to help the team with various secretarial and administration duties which help facilitate the smooth running of the department.

Deirdre has been a Legal Secretary for over 25 years and has been working for SLC for the past 4 ½ years.

Her qualifications include City & Guilds HND in Business Studies along with RSA qualifications up to stage 3.
